People in Spalding are being encouraged to have their say on proposals for the town before consultation closes on 28th October.
Spalding Town Board is asking local people for their views on the proposals which showcase a number of ideas and improvements for the town and which have been informed by themes that emerged in previous consultation.
To date, there have been more than 200 responses to the online survey, and a large number of brochures and surveys have been given out in venues and at events in the market place and at South Holland Centre.
The proposals offer concepts for the town including improvements to the market, a outdoor events programme on the market place / Hall Place, improvements to the South Holland Centre, seating at the waterfront, and much more.
The proposals have been developed after £20M in government funding was announced for Spalding through the Pride in Place (Plan for Neighbourhoods) programme. The proposals, which will be reviewed and updated following the consultation, will form part of Spalding’s submission which has to be made to government by 28th November.
Robin Hancox, Chair, Spalding Town Board said: “On behalf of the Board, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has shared their thoughts so far, either by completing our survey or by talking to the team at one of our events.
“There is clearly so much enthusiasm for our town’s future, and its potential, and the Board will take time to carefully consider the findings of this consultation.
“If you haven’t yet done so, please do have your say and tell us what you think, and help us to shape our submission to government.
“Of course, our engagement with the community is ongoing and we will carry on speaking and listening to local people’s thoughts and ideas for the lifetime of the programme.”
The proposals are set out in a brochure with feedback invited via a survey. This is available online: https://lovespalding.co.uk/consultation-2025/ Hard copies are also available to pick up and read in South Holland District Council offices, Boston College, South Holland Centre, Ayscoughfee Hall, and Spalding Library.
In addition, people can pick up a brochure and share their thoughts at a market stall in the market place from 9am – 2pm on Tuesday 21st October. Plus, the team will be in the South Holland Centre from 12noon – 7.30pm also on Tuesday to speak to people about the proposals: the public are invited to drop in at any time.
As well as the consultation on the proposals, community groups, charities, and organisations are also being offered the chance to submit project ideas for consideration for the funding.
Applicants are asked to provide a brief summary of the project they are putting forward within their expressions of interest which will be assessed by the Board against a clear set of criteria. Work will subsequently take place to further develop projects selected through the process.
Applicants can fill in an online form https://lovespalding.co.uk/call-for-projects/ pick up and return a printed copy from South Holland District Council offices, or email Spalding.TownBoard@sholland.gov.uk for a copy of the form to be emailed or posted directly.
