Plans for multi-million pound funding in Spalding have been approved by South Holland District Council and will now be submitted to the government.
A ten-year vision and an investment plan which sets out priorities for the next four years have been developed to provide a framework for the delivery of the £20M Pride in Place funding which begins from April 2026.
The vision and the plan have been directly informed by feedback from the community that has been captured since summer 2024 and which has revealed local people’s thoughts and ideas on improvements for Spalding.
This includes findings from the most recent consultation carried out in October which sought the public’s views on proposals for the town that had been developed based on previous community feedback.
The ten year vision and investment plan set out how the funding will be prioritised on the themes of safety and security, town centre revitalisation, town centre business diversification, cultural and heritage provision, and events and markets.
Whilst the vision and plan outline the themes and ambition for Spalding, the detailed projects and activities will be determined in the coming months, ensuring that the funding is invested where it can make a difference.
Robin Hancox, Chair, Spalding Town Board said: “It is fantastic that we have now reached the stage of finalising the vision and plan for Spalding and I would like to thank everybody who has taken part in our consultation to help to shape the submission for our town.
“I believe that we have developed an exciting vision and plan that reflects what we have heard from the community and which will deliver real long-lasting improvements that make an impact.
“We have so much to be proud of in Spalding and with Pride in Place funding we have a huge opportunity to build on what we have in our town and help it to thrive for the benefit of us all.
“The Board is looking forward to continuing to work together with our community so that we can realise our vision for Spalding and bring the changes that people want to see.”
Councillor Nick Worth, Leader, South Holland District Council said: “Throughout the consultation, there have been very clear and consistent themes in the feedback shared by the public.
“The vision and plan that have been developed are built upon these themes and provide a strong framework for delivering further improvements for our town.
“With the cabinet’s approval, Spalding’s submission will now proceed to government.
“I look forward to seeing the ambition and priorities for Spalding that have been set out realised in the next few years.”
A response from government to the plans is expected in early 2026 with the first tranche of funding to be released in April 2026.
