22 submissions to Spalding Town Board’s open call for projects have been invited to progress their proposals to the next stage of the assessment process.

The shortlisted applicants, which propose investment in community facilities, arts and culture, heritage and history, connections around town and more, are being asked to provide more details for further consideration by a panel of board members.

The shortlisting comes after the Board’s open call for projects in November 2025 attracted 35 initial expressions of interest which were assessed against a robust set of criteria, key to which was fit with community needs.

The successful applicants in this second stage of the process will subsequently have the opportunity to access investment in their proposal through the Pride in Place funding which is set to begin this spring.

Robin Hancox, Chair, Spalding Town Board said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who submitted an expression of interest in our open call for projects. We had a great response and I am grateful to everyone who took the time to share their proposals with us.

“All of the applications have been thoroughly assessed against a clear set of criteria which centre on community needs that are now identified as Spalding’s funding priorities.

“I fully appreciate that those who haven’t been successful may feel disappointed but this is just the start of our investment in Spalding.

“There will be many other opportunities to work together with projects, partners, and organisations in the town to make sure this funding makes a difference for our community.

“This is a first and great step forward in making sure the Pride in Place funding is invested on the ground in Spalding.”

The successful applicants will be announced later this spring and these projects will form part of the detailed four-year plan for investment in Spalding.
