Consultation October 2025
Robin Hancox, Chair, Spalding Town Board said:
“On behalf of the Board, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to take part in our consultation, whether by filling in one of our surveys, coming along to one of our drop-in exhibitions, or speaking to us at our market stall. We’ve had a fantastic response with 310 people completing the survey, either online or in paper format, and many more speaking to us at our events over the four weeks. Now we’re looking carefully at what the public has told us as we prepare our submission for government, and we will provide an update on the findings shortly.
“Whilst this consultation may now be closed, our engagement with local people will continue in the months and years to come as we all work together for Spalding. We’re excited about the opportunity for Spalding and the difference this funding can make for our town.”
Consulting about our heritage
A set of documents have been created which are all about heritage in some of the South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership’s town centres. These documents focus on future investment and encourage the preservation and improvement of our heritage. All the documents can be found here: Heritage Consultation Documents – South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership
In Spalding we have three documents. The first is Spalding Conservation Area Appraisal (PDF, 10 MB) which is a statutory document which means it’s used in planning decisions. Unlike the Conservation Area Appraisal, the remaining documents – The Spalding Heritage Strategy and South & East Lincolnshire Council Design Guide – are not statutory documents, but are documents used by the council to steer and support future development and investment.
The Spalding Heritage Strategy (PDF, 9 MB) was written following on from Spalding Reconnected with The National Lottery Fund and it has been written in such a way that it can be used for other town centre funding, such as the Pride in Place (Plan for Neighbourhoods) programme. Then there’s the South and East Lincs Traditional Building Design Guide (PDF, 47 MB) which has come about to provide advice to building owners and occupiers who are keen to carry out proper repair and maintenance of historic buildings. The Design Guide is in its early stages, and contains topics to consider, and will be added to and amended following consultation to make sure it fits with community feedback.
