Last year, it was announced that Spalding would receive £20M in government funding to deliver improvements around the themes of safety and security; high streets, heritage, and regeneration, and transport and connectivity. The Spalding Town Board was formed to oversee this funding, and we have been focused on developing a vision and three year investment plan that meets the needs of the town and realises Spalding potential.
An absolute priority has been listening to the views of local people, finding out what matters to residents, what works well, and what could be better. We have heard from hundreds of people with 507 people having their say through our survey. We have also been working closely with councillors, stakeholders, and partners in the town to understand their thoughts and ideas. We are grateful to everyone who has taken the time to have their say, and we look forward to continuing our conversations in the months and years to come.
With this feedback and with the data pack we have been provided with by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (formerly the Department for Levelling Up, Housing, and Communities) we are working hard to develop a vision and three-year investment plan that will meet the needs of Spalding and deliver for our town.
We were originally working towards a 1st August deadline for our submission however this has been moved and we are awaiting a new timescale. In the meantime, the Board will continue the great progress we have made to date and finalise the vision and plan so we are ready for the new submission date.
We will provide an update on the plan and the consultation and engagement findings in due course. The Board is extremely grateful for everyone’s involvement and interest and we are committed to creating a plan that delivers for Spalding.
